Job Responsibilities

Summary:

 

SIRC is looking to fill an immediate opening for a DCPS DATA WAREHOUSING SPECIALIST LEAD for a project in downtown Washington DC (Metro accessible). This is our DIRECT CLIENT. If you are interested, please send me your resume along with your expected hourly rate on 1099.

16+ years of experience. Coordinates the data administration technical function for both data warehouse development and maintenance.

 

The ideal candidate must possess the following:

 

  • Translates data warehouse business requirements into physical data model and schema. Works with technical staff and program teams to develop understanding of reporting requirements as needed. Reviews and makes recommendations about how to transition current state reporting platform to data warehouse.
  • Designs ETL approach to pull data from systems of record into data warehouse. Create scripts and queries to enable data integration between various student data systems.
  • Implements business rules via stored procedures, middleware, or other technologies.
  • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing reports, and develop strategies for enhancing and improving the performance of these reports
  • Writes SQL code to implement complex queries for reporting
  • ETL development and maintenance.
  • Trouble shoots complex code, identify SQL performance bottlenecks and optimize SQL queries
  • Adhere to coding standards and participate in peer code reviews
  • Maintains clean and elegant code as well as ensures up to date code repository.
  • Investigates new technologies and suggests new solutions to business problems
  • Works collaboratively to design and build relational databases, and develops strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of a database.
  • Defines, designs, and builds dimensional databases.
  • Develops data warehousing blueprints, evaluating hardware and software platforms, integrating systems.
  • Reviews and develops object and data models and and the metadata repository to structure the data for better management and quicker access.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required Skills:

 

  • 16 years’ supporting database applications/tools for extraction, transformation, and raw data analysis
  • 16 years’ evaluating and improving data quality
  • 16 years’ SQL and PL/SQL experience
  • 16 years’ experience in data analysis, modeling, and design specific to a data warehouse
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience 16 years’
  • 16 years’ professional experience
  • 16 years’ hands on experience in SQL Server, Relational Database, Extract Transform and Load (ETL).
  • 16 years’ strong attention to detail and the ability to translate high level technical and business initiatives
  • 16 years’ excellent communication skills, especially the ability to actively listen and draw out the true needs
  • 16 years’ defines, designs, and builds dimensional databases.
  • 3 years’ experience in K12 Data models
  • 1 year experience in HIPPA and FERPA
